HTC bails out of Brazil

24 June 2012 - According to a company spokesperson, HTC has plans of withdrawing out from the Brazilian smartphone market. The Taiwanese manufacturer will be shutting down their operations in Brazil, retrenching off dozens of its employees and halting sales of devices with immediate effect.

HTC did promise that it will continue supporting existing devices that have been sold in the country. The HTC spokesperson said that “After analyzing the sales numbers, we have decided to pull out of the Brazilian market,”. It is worth noting that Brazil passes Germany and France in global smartphone market share with more than 27 million users, so HTC is missing out on a big slice of the pie.
